What Does Discovery Mean? Discovery is fun for everybody. I think discovery means learning new things. I also think it means finding treasure. Another thing I think it means is creating new things. In my picture, I am finding a treasure box and the key to the treasure box and some diamonds. That is what I think discovering means.

Crusie Arcade Game - Mini Ball:
Research Paper Identify the Problem How can we, as Caine has inspired, demonstrate through teamwork our imagination, determination, and passion for creativity and innovation, with our own arcade constructions? Explore What Makes an Effective Professional Arcade Game?
I played and researched the game Wicky Woo 2. The game was created by David Carachello. You play by moving the character Wicky Woo with the arrow keys and him make jump with the spacebars or shift button. You win the game by filling in all the blocks Wicky Woo runs on. You try to not let the mushroom guys touch you and to not fall off the platforms. The rules are displayed under the game screen. I give the game 4 stars in a 1-4 difficulty rating.
To build the game I think you would need a lot of cardboard and a small action figure. I think it would cost $15 to build and $5 to play.
The game is called Wicky Woo 2. You can play it at:
Design Brief What is the Concept Design of My Crusie Arcade Game?
The name of our game is Mini Ball. The way you play the game is by shooting 5 mini basketballs and trying to get them into one of the 2 hoops. We will display the rules on the ticket box under the slot. The difficulty level in a 1-4 rating is 2. You win the game by getting as many points as you can. You get as many tickets as you get points.
The blueprint of our game looks like a big cardboard box that says Mini Ball with another smaller box on the side that says tickets. It is where you get all the tickets you earned. In the inside there are 2 mini basketball hoops.
Our game is made of cardboard boxes, tape, paint, and hoops. It will probably take 5-7 weeks to build. Some of the problems that we will possibly have are that the basketball hoops are not strong enough, not flimsy ticket box, the basketball tray is not strong enough.

Praise: Challenging game! Very creative design- I love the rooms that catch the balls. I thought the way the idea evolved was fascinating- you started with one idea and ended up somewhere completely different.
Question: Can anyone score more than 50? Do I get an extra toss if I score a 10 on my last ball?
Polish: I suggest you clearly write the rules about how far away someone stands for the extra levels of difficulty.
Student Comment: Thanks, we got the idea for Mini Ball from the basketball games in the real arcades. In playing the game you do not get an extra toss if you get 10 points on your last toss. No, it is not possible to get more than 50 points. We will tell the players where they have to stand when they play the game outside in the library hallway. The 10 point hoop was tilted, and we could not fix that.

Praise: I enjoyed the game. It was challenging and fun. Your choice of recycled materials worked very well. Once the balls were thrown, they were contained and easy to retrieve.
Question: How can you make your game more colorful?
Polish: You might want to have a specified spot to stand depending upon the age of the player.
Student Comment: Thank you for the comments. We had to use the beanbags for Mini Ball because my mom could not get real mini basketballs. They were good because they would not bounce around once they got into the hoop. I do not think we can make our game more colorful because we do not have any more time to paint our game, but that is a good idea. We will say where to stand depending on their age. We have a certain spot that is not too far from our game and is a good spot for everybody.

Praise: Nice idea everyone likes basketball. Great doors.
Polish: Fix the level on the back net. It appears to be “tilted” so people can not score.
Question: Could you stand a far distance from the game to control the score?
Student Comment: Thanks, we put the doors on our game because it would be easier to get the balls when they finish their turn. We got the idea for Mini Ball from the basketball games in the real arcade; also, we both like basketball. Yes, you can score a point even though it is tilted. We cannot fix the tilt because it hard to fix. Yes, we have certain distance from our game where players stand that is not too far from our game.

Make It Better How Can We Make the Crusie Arcade Game Better? Reflection on Project
What can we do to improve our Arcade Creation?
We could add light our game mini ball to make it look cooler, we could also make the back net more straight so it will be easier to make the back net.
Specifically, how would we do this?
We could ask my mom to buy mini disco-ball, we could make the back net more straight by taking it off and adjusting it.
Reflection on Process
What did you learn to do with the Crusie Arcade Project?
I learned how to make things out of cardboard.
What do you know now that you didn’t know before doing the Project?
I learned how to work with someone else to build something.
What can you do know that you couldn’t before doing this project?
I learned how to make a sturdy cardboard game with just duct tape and cardboard.
What did you like about the project that helped your learning?
I liked that I learned how to work with another person to build Mini Ball.
What could have been done differently to help your learning?
We could have learned other things.
A Final Reflection:
Ella and I made this game called Mini Ball. The way we could improve our game is by making the back net more straight so it would be easier for the players to make the shot in the back net. We could also add lights to make it look cooler. We could do this by asking my mom to buy a mini disco-ball and really strong tape so the light would stay on better. I learned how to make things out of cardboard. I learned how to build something with someone. Overall, I really liked building our game Mini Ball. Crusie Arcade Game Presentation - Gaming Week:
